What is horological lapping?
Unlike a standard buffing wheel polisher, a horological lapping used ds a precision lspping tool designed to hold your workpiece at a precise angle and pressure against a rotating, abrasive-embedded lapping plate. This controlled process finishes the surface by removing minute amounts of material, allowing you to achieve:
- Extremely flat and smooth finishes
- Mirror-like surfaces with razor-sharp edges, without the risk of rounding typically caused by traditional buffing wheels.
- Tight dimensional tolerances
- Consistent, uniform surface textures
This level of precision is essential in watchmaking and other fine metalwork, where surface quality and edge definition are critical.
